Yesterday received an email from HAL offering to add HIA to our casino deal (free cabin) for $50 per person per day.  Our cruise is 90 days out.

And now I see this from someone on the Koningsdam last week who added it (the stickers are mine to highlight the rate and package). Grrr and ugh...

Were you adding to a free casino rate booking? They're telling me that's the issue - HIA is not combinable with the discounted casino rate. The last person who tried was very enthusiastic about adding it, but when the system wouldn't accept it on his end, he reached out to a supervisor for assistance. Their research for determining how to get the system to accept it led them to the fine print saying it's not combo able with certain discounted rates, casino being one of them. They apologized like crazy and said they have no way to override it.

If anyone knows how to get past this, I'm open for suggestions on how I can get HIA added to my booking. 🤔

We've added HIA to both "discounted" Casino rates and to "free stateroom" Casino offers at the standard $50US pp/pd as recently as last month (on a "free stateroom" offer).

I know on our offer it appeared for us to purchase sporadically ...so I think that was just a website issue. When we did the initial booking with our PCC, she confirmed we could add it (which we had done in the past - a year ago so we expected as much)

The only exception should be short cruises (less than 4 or 5 days maybe - not sure of the number)

I'd keep trying ...

Yes I did.

Their enthusiasm doesn’t matter. What you are fighting here is HAL IT and they can’t fix it. Maybe something has changed it the last couple months and it’s a no go but it was allowed before. Maybe you already tried my suggestion and need to to give it some time to see if this is a glitch or new thing.

You're killing me!! Were you able to add it? I also received an email offer (assume same/similar as yours) which prompted 1 of the 4 calls I made.

I have not decided whether or not to take it yet - will work on it over the weekend and call my PCC on Monday of I do.  In our situation its pretty much a wash (not drinkers and already in a Neptune (morning coffee) plus have done most of the excursions (or cannot do them!).

Interesting note - the email I received yesterday was addressed to ME, while the casino deal reservation was made on my DW's account (her a primary as she is the gambler).  She DID NOT receive the HIA email yesterday.  Not sure if this means anything or not - perhaps you can check it out with your travel partner (see if they got the email).

Travel partner did receive an email as well. Hers, like yours and mine, showed a rate of $50/day, but in the booking it didn't have a rate, which is usually an indication it's not available. She clicked it anyway but got an error the that it wasn't available, so she called and was told same thing - not available due to not being combinable with the free casino rate. Will definitely continue to call, though.

Thanks for the heads up about checking both emails.

I just finished making my first free casino cruise 👏.  They immediately asked did I want to add HIA, I declined.

I would love to know who booked it, I'll call them, lol.

Did they happen to give the price? We were told we could add it at full price, but not $50/day.

Yes, full price. I went to my manage my cruise page and it was listed under packages. In past experience it only shows on the manage cruise page briefly, later I have had to call it in.  I never buy it at full price, it doesn’t work for us. I rarely drink and he drinks wine so the wine package with mariner discount is a better way for us.

What's full price?

I've only seen ever seen adding it in after a booking at the $50/day/pp rate for last year or so. Anything above that would be a hard sell for us also.

Full price is $99/day, sale price that I'm trying to add is $50/day.

That makes sense for it to be available full price. I'm wanting to add it at $50/day, which I did get an email for, but they can't do. The full price doesn't make sense for us, either. Thanks!

I think $50/day is the normal price of the package - they state the "value"  of HIA is $99/day - which is roughly what it would cost if you bought the components of HIA separately (drinks, wifi, shore excurions and dinners)

https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/deals_CAD/have-it-all/have-it-all-upgrade.html

There was a brief time when it was sometimes offered at $45/day but have not seen that in quite a  while.

I’m a bit confused but maybe I have it wrong. This is the first time I booked a casino rate, “NOT FREE CABIN”, which includes the HIA. Is it only the free cabin that requires an additional fee for HIA. Also I get the emails, not my husband  and he  is the bigger gambler than me…Thanks

I've never gotten a casino offer that includes HIA. And while I've had other discount offers, including "private sales" that "include" HIA, when I ask for a lower rate, they remove HIA and quote me a lower rate, so HIA was not really included, it was just added on and paid in the price.

I had the option of cabin with and without the HIA. I opted for HIA. When I called my PCC, he was able to lower the price of the cruise even more.

PCC lowered the price and you kept HIA? Just want to be sure I understand.

Congrats! Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!

Yes,  this was NOT a FREE cruise, I paid a discounted rate.

HAL has several layers of casino fares and different rules.  For example, there is the free cabin deal, which is nice but does not allow you to add other promotions (for the most part) to it.  Then there are slightly discounted fares (5-20% off) which allows most perks to be added (such as HIA, stockholder credit, etc.  Now it seems we are experiencing a third set, the deeply discounted fares (50% and greater) which it is unclear to me what perks can be added (if any) to it.  I just booked one of these deeply discounted fares and will soon try to get stockholder credit with it and will report back what I find.

Heading out on July 16th from Vancouver to Whittier on the Nieuw Amsterdam. We have the Have it all package which includes drinks. Just trying to confirm some of the things I have read on here. It seems like we get 15 drinks a day. This includes basically anything but coffee, tea and water. I am hearing (??) it includes bottled water, soda, specialty coffee, alcohol (wine, beer, and cocktails)? Some said that it might even include milkshakes? I am totally new to HAL. Never been on an HAL cruise and not many cruises period. How do the bartenders and wait staff know that you have this package? And how do they keep count when you reach your 15 drinks (not that I will likely even get close).? I have a party of 8 that I am traveling with and I am the information gatherer.

Yes, you have a 15 drink per day limit.  There is a notation on your key card, but it’s a good idea to also tell your drink server when they take your order just to avoid any confusion.  I have been able, on all my HAL cruises, to get a specialty coffee with liqueur in it.  I love chai tea lattes with amaretto and it was never a problem getting a double of amaretto or kahlua with my specialty coffee.
