Delta Seat Upgrade and Cancelled Flight

Does anyone know what happens on Delta when you upgrade a seat with points and then later cancel the flight?

Thanks.  Does anyone know if they automatically get credited back in or if I have to call to get them back?

In a perfect world, the points should be automatically credited. Personally, I suggest contacting Delta to ensure you get said points back. Nothing is easy these days, especially when it comes to travel.
