Nice article.

 

I've always had the impression that cruising the US rivers means looking at a lot of factories and industrial plants.  Certainly, as the article mentions, you won't be seeing any castles on hills overlooking the river like you would on the Rhine or the Mosel.  

 

It was good to read that there are some very scenic stretches in the US as well.
