phabric Posted July 5, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2023 I had a Sicily port about 5-6 yrs ago. I can not remember what was in the port area as I was on a Princess excursion. I will be stopping again in Nov. There are no Princess excursions I am interested in doing. Is there anything around the port area to walk and see? euro cruiser Posted July 5, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2023 Which port in Sicily? It's the largest island in the Mediterranean and there are several ports, including Messina, Catania, Siracusa, Palermo and more.

euro cruiser Posted July 5, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 5, 2023 From Messina I would guess that most people go to Taormina and/or Mt. Etna. If you want to stay in town, the regional art museum (with a couple of good Caravaggio paintings) is an easy taxi or tram ride from the cruise port, or a longish (3 km/1.8 miles) walk. Visita – Museo di Messina (mume.in) The Duomo is quite close to the cruise port (about a third of a mile on foot), it's known in part for having the world's largest astronomical clock. Rare marazul Posted July 5, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 5, 2023 As euro cruiser said, there are a couple of things to see, but not enough to keep you busy on a long port day. Consider Mt Etna and/or Taormina if you haven't been there before.
