The non-YC cabanas are spaced out about 20 yards apart all along the South Beach and Pinapple Beach (highlighted in red). I was surprised to see how far apart they all are

Which is nice in principle, but does not always mean someone will not set up 'camp' right along side or in front of the cabana, turn up their boom box and party til you vacate. YC cabanas have their advantages with less interference from a "wider audience". Butlers do have their advantages. They ensure every YC guest is not 'encumbered' by encroachments.

My friend had booked a non-YC cabana for us on our sailing in April and we got to our assigned cabana, it was already occupied by a huge Chinese family, only one of whom. an older lady in pantyhose and velvet ballet slippers was actually in the cabana. All of the other family members were in the water, but had left a huge collection of bags, shoes, hats, etc. in the cabana. The lady conveniently did not speak any English, but luckily an MSC employee helped us clear her out, call the rest of the family back from the water, and get all their stuff removed. They initially tried to set up on the loungers that were associated with our cabana, but he was having none of of that. They moved over to the side of our cabana, where they proceeded to steal an umbrella from a family who had rented one. That family was also Chinese and a crazy argument in Mandarin (?) ensued. It was a lot of free entertainment!
