Rare Monica887 Posted August 7, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2023 What kind of shopping etc is accessible from the port? I don't want to get off the ship for long here, but just want to browse and walk.

Carnival built Mahogany Bay which is further east on the island than Coxen Hole where NCL will porting. I understand they have been renovating the port at Coxen Hole, maybe someone who has recently been can speak on it area inside the fence. Outside the fence if you can talk your way around the locals you will find shops and whatnot both along the road and in the small village of Coxen Hole. One need remember this is an island off the coast of a third world country. I love the place and the people..but some are not prepared. There is a small port shopping area. You can go outside the port to some local shops and bars but unless you have somewhere specific in mind I wouldn’t bother for random browsing. We like to go just outside port to the left to sit and have a drink and snack on the deck of Captain Jack’s, visible from the ship with red roof. There is a photo on Google maps from 7 months ago that shows the land layout of the port renovation but it doesn’t look like any progress with the amenities that were planned pre-Covid.
