I'm very positive that @dbrown84 is correct.

No FAS drink package? then gotta use and hold on to the CAS drink card and you are limited to that one bar.

Have a drink package?, then the waiters always ask for your key card and wave away the green CAS drink card.....which, I suppose, is to minimize the casino's carrying cost of you being a player.

yes, this has been my experience.  But @Red-Sol has experienced it differently.  As long as all getting our drinks, it's all good

This has always been my experience.  I usually get the drink package.  In those cases, you don’t need the drink card unless you’re ordering something that’s not included in the package, like bottled water or a fancy coffee.  In those cases you had to show the card.  The bartender rang it up and then input some kind of code so there is no charge.  On the one cruise I did without the drink package I had to show the drink card each time until they got to know me and then they didn’t ask for it.  But I always carried it with me in case there was a new server or bartender who didn’t know me (yet!).

Oh, and one more thing.  I always book through CAS.  Sometimes on a comp, sometimes on a discount, and sometimes with no discount (i.e. I booked a Haven cabin outright and they could not discount it.). In all cases except one I’ve had the drink card waiting in the cabin.  The one time it wasn’t was when I was upgraded the night before the second leg of a B2B.  I think they simply couldn’t find me.  😂. When the casino opened, I just went to the host desk and they gave me the card.

bottom line, I believe all bookings made through CAS get the drink card, regardless of whether it’s a comp, a discount or full fare.

Well all I can say is that for some reason I must be lucky. I have recieved the drink card on every cruise I have been on in the last 10 years or so. I have kept it visible while playing but have never given it to any of the servers. (I actually try to at times but they don't want it) I have never had the Free at Sea Drink Package. I have always given the servers my cabin card and have always recieved comped drinks in the casino. (Multiple ships and multiple cruise destinations)

Now if only my luck with the drink card would actually carry over to the casino itself! 🤣
