Re. Pisco cruise port in Peru: We've read several articles about boats from Paracas town to the Ballestras Islands and/or trips to Paracas National Reserve. The majority seem to be focused on leaving from Paracas town - and we will be docking in General San Martin. Anyone know what the shuttle/taxi situation is in this port? It doesn't appear to be far to go. We'll be only in port from 7-3pm. Does Celebrity Cruises offer a shuttle to Paracas town and how early do these shuttles start? Any info/experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to CruiseCritic.  it can take time to learn the ins and outs of using the forums but time well spent should you be looking for past threads and posts which can have a lot of useful info in them so learning how to use the SEARCH TOOL is a good starting point.

In this instance, go to the South American ports GENERAL forum, NOT an individual thread, and insert your key search word in the empty search box under your user name. Hit the little spy glass and within a few seconds all previous threads containing that word will appear ready for you to read. This works across all forums, you only need be on the correct one for your geographic area.

I just now searched using the word PARACAS and this is one of the results.  You could read others if you search again with the name of the port which is not "Pisco" but General San Martin or as I did, with the word Paracas.  I give you this as I remembered writing post #5.

When we were there we just got off the ship and found a car and driver that took us to the area for boat tours to the Ballestras.  That was such a highlight that we are doing almost the same cruise again this year and plan on doing the same.  This was pre-covid, but at that time there were plenty of taxi's/cars waiting for passengers.

We were in General San Martin (Pisco) last December onboard the HAL Oosterdam, where we had arranged a independent tour of Bellastas & the Paracas Nature Reserves through the Secrets of Peru tour company.

We did a review of the cruise, which may give you an idea as to what this port stop is like. The port info starts at post #70.

We would also like to welcome you to Cruise Critic, which is an indispensable source of information related to cruising.

When we stopped in Pisco in 2019 on a HAL cruise, a shuttle was provided from the port to the marina from which the tour boats depart.  So for us, no tour needed since it's easy to just join one of the tour boats.  In addition to the fee for the boat, there is a fee for visiting the park.  It was well worth doing since we saw tons of bird, a few penguins, and a bunch of seal.  You will also see the design drawn on the side of a hill which is only visible from sea.
