marcc Posted August 14, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2023 We will be on the Gem in September with a port of call in Ijmuiden. Does anyone know what time we have to be back on board? I've read one hour in one place and two hours in another. Back at 7:00pm seems doable but losing an hour will hurt. Thanks Marc
MagnoliaBlossom Posted August 14, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2023 (edited) Usually it id 30 minutes prior to sailing. The all aboard time will be in the newsletter the night before and it will be posted on a sign near the exit. Make sure you know if you are on ship time or local time and that your watch is correct. Do NOT allow your watch to automatically adjust to time zones. Do it yourself so you know exactly what you need. MeHeartCruising Posted August 14, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 14, 2023 For port of call visits, it will never be 2 hours prior. There is a VERY old phrase posted on NCL's website that indicates you need to be on board 2 hours prior. But that is a badly worded paragraph that refers to when you need to arrive for checkin at the embarkation port -- at least 2 hours prior to departure. But for normal port visits it is usually 30 minutes before disembarking. But as stated above, be certain to check with your daily newsletter for exact times. There will also be a sign at the gangway as you're leaving (and people you can ask to confirm). I always allow at least one hour.
julig22 Posted August 14, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2023 Generally speaking, all aboard for ports of call is 30 minutes before departure but last shuttle or tender will usually be 1 hour. If you are on a NCL excursion, they will get you back to the ship in time to board - even if the ship has to wait.

Thanks Marc Generally 30 minutes prior to sailaway, though the captain may set an earlier time. If at a tender port the last tender is usually an hour before sailaway. Rare destar Posted August 14, 2023 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2023 I like to be back on board or around the pier 1 hr before sailing. But just in case look up pier runners on youtube.
