tampadee Posted August 17, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2023 We are leaving on a cruise on Seascape on Sunday. My husband is scheduled to have a hip replacement and has difficulty walking. His pain became a lot worse well after we booked the cruise. Does anyone know how difficult it would be to get around the ship, including the casino on a scooter? Or would it be better to use a walker. I have been having a lot of trouble reaching anyone at MSC. Thanks for any information!
Rare Essiesmom Posted August 17, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 17, 2023 Easy, but you have to be able to fit it through a 22” cabin door if you don’t have a HC cabin. And if you can get through the door that’s as far as you will get if your bed is by the bath. You can’t leave it in the hall, plus no way to charge it in hall. Rhea98 Posted August 17, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 17, 2023 Sounds like you'll be renting a scooter. If it's only/mostly for the ship, try to get a smaller, foldable one. DH has one that folds up to the size of a large suitcase: 29.5" x 19" x 18".
tampadee Posted August 17, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted August 17, 2023 I did talk to a sales person who tried to find out information. I was on hold with him for quite a while and when he came back he said the scooter can be left outside the door. Maybe with extension cord? Rare Essiesmom Posted August 17, 2023 #5 Share Posted August 17, 2023 He is wrong. SOLAS regulations stipulate scooters, strollers, etc. cannot be left in hallways. EM
tampadee Posted August 17, 2023 Author #6 Share Posted August 17, 2023 We rented a scooter that is supposed to be delivered to our cabin on embarkation day. I was told by MSC that we will have a wide door because we booked in the Yacht club. Thanks for all you replies.

Someone correct this old gal's memory, but the YC doors are the same size as regular doors (??) unless you are in a Handicapped Cabin in the yacht club.
