Excursions out of Santa Rosalia Mexican Riviera

On an upcoming cruise, one of the port stops is Santa Rosalia   8-5 .   There are only 2 excursions offered at a seemingly high price of $169  for about 5  hours.  This includes a 90 minute stop at the beach.  ......I cannot find any other non-cruise line excursions  when I search.     Looking for input on those who have been to this port and if you know if alternate options are available.   We always have used non-cruise ship excursions and never once had any problem.    We would so appreciate your input on this asap.   ( I did make reservations with the cruise ship excursions for all but one port......)    Thank you.   We are to be on the Voldendam  departing  December 10 from San Diego.

yes it "appears" they are stopping at places to give the locals a boost in their economy!   However, the choices  are limited for excursions.   I usually decline ship excursions as I get more from local vendors, but this cruise ship stops in places that I cannot  in general shop around.   Maybe it is a safety iissue?    The only 2 excursions in Santa Rosalia are$169 each for 5 hours...pretty steep....and try as I may I cannot find alternate tours offered from the port.    Live and learn.......

I don't think you are going to experience any safety issues here.  It is one of the main stops on the highway that runs down Baja.  It also has a fishing harbor.

One of the big draws here are the remnants the French activities in the region based on mining.  The town includes some metal structures which I think Gustav Eiffel had a role in.

I would love to see more cruises heading into the Sea of Cortes.  I think you are lucky to be on this cruise.  I am sure you will find something interesting in town for less than $169.00

BTW - I looked at this cruise for December 10th.  This is one of the best Mexican cruises I have ever seen from my perspective.  I know it is expensive with the cruise line mark up, but the Copper Canyon railway is incredibly beautiful.
