Deposit questions....

We are considering a transatlantic on the Ovation that doesn't sail until November 2025.  Can anyone please tell me:

1) Does Seabourn ever run promotions offering reduced deposits (we have never sailed with them before)?

2) If you need to cancel before final payment is the deposit fully refundable, or do they hold back an administration fee?

At the moment the 25% deposit would be substantial for a cruise that is more than two years out, so I am hoping to reduce the financial outlay if possible.

We enjoy transatlantic crossings westbound in November and are on Ovation thus November. Promotions do offer reduced deposits from time to time, but also sometimes promotions reduce the price! Sometimes worth waiting.

You need to look at the cancellation conditions for the country where you reside as they vary by country. Search for them on the SB Website or ask a good TA.

Thank you for your comments ~ great appreciated!  I will ask our TA regarding the cancellation conditions.

Turns out the deposit was only 10% so no big deal.  Also, no admin fee for cancelling before final payment.  We are really looking forward to our first Seabourn cruise!

Since your booking can be cancelled without penalty before final payment, it can benefit from future sales. If the price drops, you can ask for a re-fare and benefit from the new price. In previous years, Seabourn's Black Friday sales often gave substantial savings. Just one last point, if you re-fare to a lower price, make sure you understand the the cancellation policy of the new fare, because a cheaper fare sometimes comes with a more restrictive cancellation policy.

Check your invoice carefully.  Cancellation penalties begin prior to the final payment date on most (all?) Seabourn cruises.

You are absolutely correct.  A ten percent penalty kicks in on July 21st.  But final payment is August 20th, at which time a 50% penalty kicks in.  😳
