I thought I would share a few. Maybe you have some secrets to share, too. On the Noordam and Eurodam (and maybe on others) there is what I call the acoustic chamber. There are two of these nearby to each other on of the two ships. Stand in the center of it under the middle light and talk. You will notice an “odd” occurrence. It is like talking in a sealed chamber. Nobody else nearby you will notice it but yourself. The Pinnacle ships have the same thing at the lower entrances to the main stage. I like to call it, “A Quiet Place.” I spent several sea days here relaxing, reading and drinking without seeing another passenger. I will remain silent as to its exact location. Hopefully you will too when you come upon it. Otherwise, it is no longer a secret. Was that formerly the Oak Room?
ShipWalker Posted October 15, 2023 Author #30 Share Posted October 15, 2023 (edited) On every HAL ship there is a small FREE single-sex dry sauna. One for men and another for women. This sauna has nothing to do with the paid spa. On most ships it is typically in the hallway on the Lido deck heading to the spa desk and right behind the ping pong tables. When it is closed it is behind watertight doors so it is not readily visible. Open hours are 8AM to 8PM. Both the Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam have a much larger sauna with a window. Thank you for this thread and for this post! Could have used a nice warm sauna in Norway recently. That one with the windows is fabulous.

ShipWalker Posted October 21, 2023 Author #33 Share Posted October 21, 2023 (edited) On board the Oosterdam is another Oosterdam. It is located in the Crow’s Nest and is a scale model made out of Legos. Built by artist Nathan Sawaya in 2019 during the HAL JoCo Cruise. Check him out online. Very cool stuff. http://www.nathansawaya.com Photos taken by Canadianbear as they are much better than mine. ShipWalker Posted October 28, 2023 Author #34 Share Posted October 28, 2023 (edited) Just because something you enjoy is not offered on board does not mean you cannot make it yourself. Behold! The ice cream float. Directions: Lido Bar- request a chilled beer mug, an unopened can of Coke & a straw. Dessert bar- request three scoops of ice cream to be placed in said chilled mug. Find a chair, relax and enjoy. (repeat as needed.) Edited October 28, 2023 by ShipWalker 7

Rare ski ww Posted October 30, 2023 #38 Share Posted October 30, 2023 No need to apologize, do you know if it's still there? We did a Panama cruise on her a few years back and can't remember seeing one then. We were looking at a cruise on the Westerdam for 2025

There is a mystery stairs from the Crow’s Nest forward starboard. I emerged above and found embedded in the mast these coins. Another ship hunt I discovered on the bow deck the ship bell. It is said a child born aboard gets their name inscribed inside. Given HAL pax demographic that’s not going to happen. And what’s up with all these ducks? 2
