SailawayKC Posted September 24, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2023 I know this has been asked a hundred times but I'm asking again. I'm leaving next week and the person I thought was going to go is not and I've ask a couple of friends but they all said no so I'm sailing solo. No big deal as I have done it before. I'm on a casino rate; selected two people but never filled out the tba name. I paid the taxes for both people when I book. The questions, can I just leave the spot as tba? Should I put a fake name in and have them no show? If I do, should I tell them once onboard so they are not looking for them? TIA
PayneAS Posted September 24, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2023 I'm not sure it will let you leave it TBA. If not, just enter your friend's name that was going to go. When you go to actually check in at the port you can tell them then that the person isn't able to come. The taxes & port fees will be refunded to the method of payment used when booked.
mz-s Posted September 24, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2023 I don't think you'll be able to do online check-in with a TBA. You'll have to enter a name by then.

I believe this is true with the appropriate identification.
StephPS79 Posted September 25, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2023 As long as the casino offer is in your name, just add the friend's name or make up a name. They might ask you where the other person is when you board, just say they are arriving separately. They may even call you after you are on the ship. That's usually when I say, they couldn't make it. But I wouldn't leave it TBA, I don't think that it will even let you.
Riles34 Posted September 25, 2023 #6 Share Posted September 25, 2023 Just call Carnival and have them remove the 2nd person and get you taxes and port fees back on the second person. 1

Agreed. I’ve sailed solo a few times on a casino deal (free). I paid the $200 and received $200 OBC. I paid taxes for myself only. I paid these when booking it. Nothing was requested from me about taxes for a 2nd person. One thing about going solo, I feel that always tipping extra is appropriate as the room attendant is only getting one person’s tips, so I try to make up for that.
