Cab from port of Galveston to Hotel on Seawall Boulevard?

We are arriving to Port of Galveston on Nov. 5 on Regal Princess and are ataying at a hotel on Seawall Blvd. for one night. We would have walked, but it is 5 miles, so that's not an option.  Anyone have any recent experience getting a cab when disembarking?  I have read a lot of horror stories about how hard it is to get transfers when disembarking in Galveston!

Following as we are staying at a hotel on Seawall Blvd. in Dec the night before our cruise.  They have free cruise parking but we have to arrange our own transportation to and from port.  Ours is only about 3 miles away so I am thinking either a cab or lyft/uber to and from port should not be much.

Hope we hear from a few people who have experienced getting to and from port to their hotel recently.

It will be a mess on Sunday morning as there are at least 3 shops docking - Carnival, Princess and RCL. Uber will not be reliable unless you are first off the ship. But since you are not going to the airports, you may be able to use the local Galveston taxi services. Google those businesses and see if you can book in advance.

I've done this previously in Galveston. Yes, getting a cab is not super fast but if you are patient your wait time will probably be about 30 minutes.  They have a designated pick up for taxis at least at Carnival. That is a less waiting time than I found for uber/lyft as even the app says 15 minutes they enviably can't find a driver or the driver accepts a different pick up.  I can't remember the fare to the hotels on Seawall but it was competitive on what was offered on the ride share companies.
