shiner6 Posted October 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2023 I remember waiting for a long time when we sailed from Vancouver with HAL. What are your recommendations for Princess?
PurpleTraveller Posted October 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2023 I embarked at Vancouver in June and arrived at 10.15am as my boarding time was 10.30am. The terminal was very crowded with many passengers coming early despite their boarding times. Now that there are no boarding times I would expect that to be the same. It took almost two hours to get through the lines to drop luggage, collect medallions, security and US immigration. I heard that people who arrived later had an easier time without the crowds and boarded a lot quicker.
PurpleTraveller Posted October 16, 2023 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2023 Sorry, I should have said arrival times, rather than boarding times but I was too late to edit my post.
EDDY0827 Posted October 16, 2023 #4 Share Posted October 16, 2023 How many ships are in port that day? 1 ship is easy, 3 ships is a nightmare with shared customs and security facilities.
BamaVol Posted October 16, 2023 #5 Share Posted October 16, 2023 In September, we arrived about 11:00 and were onboard in about 45 minutes. There are multiple flaming hoops we had to jump through despite having had medallions shipped to our home. I recorded a lot of steps that day. As I recall, there were two other ships in port, but both were smaller than Sapphire Princess.
cruisingrob21 Posted October 16, 2023 #6 Share Posted October 16, 2023 (edited) No need to rush - lots to see in Vancouver. Whenever I go I either head over to Stanley Park or take the Seabus to North Vancouver/Lonsdale Quay which offers a spectacular view of downtown, your ship, and a few photobombing tankers. I'll head back after lunch somewhere and be at the terminal around 130 or 2, depending on departure time. Usually by then there is a very small line, if any. negn Posted October 17, 2023 #7 Share Posted October 17, 2023 We had our medallions but someone insisted we still needed to get in this huge line to check in. Luckily my DH found someone that correctly told us we could go straight to security. Was quick and easy then. One advantage to having your medallion pre cruise
