Adventure of the Seas current condition?

We sailed on Adventure in June 2022 and I agree with PP's that she is in fine shape for her age and constant use. If you are LOOKING for wear and tear you will find it, but that's also the same in anything, if you want to see it then you will. A ship that age will show some signs of love but she's lovely and I would sail her again in a heartbeat.

Adventure is scheduled to go to Cadiz for maintenance in late October 2024, and will return to service the first week in December. We are booked on her first cruise after she comes back on 12/7/24.

We are booked for the 10/25/2024 cruise from Port Canaveral to Lisbon, Portugal and then again for the return voyage on 11/24/2024 from Barcelona, Spain back to Port Canaveral.  3 weeks to get into trouble in Europe 😂!!!  It will be interesting to compare and see what's been taken care of and what hasn't.  I'll try and keep you posted.

Nicely put; I agree.  I'm not going to sweat the small stuff; lord knows I'm not 100% anymore  LOL.

Could you elaborate on this please.  Thanks.

It's small, crowded and badly arranged. There is no clear path directly through it and if you are with a walker, skooter, or wheelchair, it is impossible to navigate.  Unlike its sister, Explorer of the Seas, which has the same basic configuration and size, but feels roomier because it is laid out differently.

Casinos aren't supposed to be easy to get through. They want you to stay.

That said I've never felt the casino on Adventure was a corn maze or anything.

In most of ships they are, since it is required to pass through to get to the theater or dining room (depending on which deck it is on). And this particular casino is a nightmare for the mobility limited.

Silly question regarding the arcade. Anyone have an idea what the arcade games cost? I know the range will vary based on a particular game. We're looking at buying credits for the 4 grandsons as a stocking stuffer. Just curious how many apprx  plays $25 credit might get. TIA, enjoy.

Really? We are due to do the transatlantic on it leaving Barcelona on 24/11/24 so perhaps we are getting a different ship for the journey?

You are good. That is the date of her return TA after she completes her dry dock.

Just sailed Adventure of the Seas Dec 30-Jan 5.  There is a very noticeable sewage problem and stench coming from the toilets and along the entirety of Floor 10 if you're so lucky to have your cabin there.  Whenever we lifted our toilet seat lid in our junior suite cabin on floor 11, the smell was pretty wretched.

The arcade games, half of them were broken and just took your money.  My kids were disappointed, but guest services did refund us our money.  Beautiful arcade, a shame they can't keep the games operational.

The smell of cigarette smoke along the pool deck is nauseating and you will get secondhand smoke by just being at the pool since royal carribean allows smokers to smoke on each side of the pool along the windows.  I found this to be extremely surprising.  Normally, smokers had to go to the upper decks where nobody was to earn their cancer.

Sorry to hear that.  We will be on the Adventure for 3 weeks starting 1-19, but will be on deck 8.  I hope that is a better location.

Since the restart, no RC arcade has been in full working order.

Also smoking is allowed on the pool deck on ever RC ship, so again not related to Adventure.

Not sure if you're purposely trying to be passive aggressive or not.  The extensive arcade aboard the ship was heavily marketed and something my family and particulary my 3 kids looked forward to.  It appears to be your inference that "half the games" being broken and taking your money is equivalent to not in "full working order".  If you feel that having 50% of the games inoperational should have been common knowledge and widely acceptable to all, you are welcome to that opinion.  However, I found this to not have met expectations and fully relevant to the current condition of the ship.

Some examples:

Air hockey game table was cracked

Bowling game took your money, but no bowling balls

Basketball shooting game only had 1 deflated ball

Guitar Hero 2 player mode did not work, but took your money

Another shooting game, screen flickering on and off

Several other games also had issues.

Guest Services refunded us our money without issue, but we would have gladly spent the money and had the experience with a "nearly full working order" arcade.

As for the smoking section surrounding the pool deck, again, this may have been common knowledge to you, but not to my family and probably not to others.

My family is currently sailing on the Adventure. My takes on the comments would be that the casino is definitely tight to pass through. The ship is dated but in decent condition. It’s felt crowded in the atrium and pool area but deck 12 has been closed off for high winds pretty much since we embarked. I’m on deck 10 in a junior suite and there is no sewage smell in our location. Overall we’re having a great time and would book again if the price was right.

Did you do MDR each night?  How did you find the service.

The ship was in fine shape.  We didn’t expect a luxurious ship - and didn’t get it, but it’s a perfectly reasonable ship in fine shape that took us to an itinerary we liked.  The service was excellent.  If you find a good itinerary at a good price you should book with this ship if you are an itinerary person.  If you are more of a the ship is the destination person you might be happier on a newer ship.

It is not as mobility device friendly as the newer ships in some areas, so if anyone in your party has a walker, wheelchair or scooter, choose another ship.

I kinda hate to hear this. the last time we were on this ship was 2002... back when DH was fully mobile.... he now needs a scooter, walker or cane depending. I we have only been sailing on newer ships...for this reason... but sailing to Southern Caribbean from a port that is a one day drive was too tempting... plus.. and this is key... we were able to get a handicap cabin. On newer ships we have been able to manage a regular cabin... but I thought that given the age of the ship and likely tighter quarters..the only way to do this is an accessible cabin. I assume that restaurants and other areas will be tight... I have fingers and toes crossed that he will be able to access the elevator... I can do stairs...but he.. impossible. So we shall see. I am curious about experience in public areas of others who have mobility issues.

The restaurants and other areas of the ship are fine, but if you are gamblers, he will have a hard time navigating the casino.  He would be better off using a cane in the casino rather than a scooter or walker, and if the restaurant you want requires you to go through the casino, or you want to go to the theater, make sure you go cross ship through level 5 - avoid trying to pass through the casino.

Thank you for these suggestions. I usually scout out the lay of the land. So this info helps quite a bit.  We sailed Celebrity Edge a few years ago... and I found the layout very choppy for anyone in a wheelchair or scooter... and the chairs were too low to sit in...if you have bad knees.

I can now walk with (sometimes without) a cane but cannot walk/stand for a long time, so I've been taking my scooter on board. We cruised on Adventure this last February and will be on her again for this NYE. I booked an accessible room (and have the same room again for NYE), which had plenty of room for us; however, the cabin doors are not automatic, so, if he is unable to push/hold the door open while he enters with his scooter, he may need your assistance going in/out of the room. We usually avoid the WJ due to the crowds (maybe some rude cruisers) and eat most meals in the MDR or a specialty restaurant.

We both have lung issues (never smoked) and cannot breathe freely around any kind of smoke (including vaping). When we were on Adventure last February, smoking was only allowed on one side of the pool deck but my husband would get up several times to report to the staff that someone was smoking/vaping on the no-smoking (our) side. Sometimes they would confront the abuser (if they actually saw him/her smoke) and sometimes they did nothing; that's when we would need to leave. It didn't ruin our cruise but it was quite annoying. I don't understand why some people think that rules don't apply to them. On the other hand, I wish more people would complain to the staff about these things, so more would be done. If you don't say anything, nothing will be done.

Sorry for the rant. We have 5 more cruises booked on Adventure but will start cruising on the big gals (Oasis and Icon class ships) next year. I didn't realize how nice the automatic cabin doors are until I didn't have one. Enjoy your cruise! Cheers!

Thank you for the additional information. This will be our first stay in an accessible cabin. In the past we have managed using regular cabins... but you really need very specific cabin design to make this work. And now even the small step up into the bathroom has become more difficult. Older ships tend to have narrower doorways and cabins tend to be smaller...which is fine..normally. Then there is where to park it and still have access to the bathroom.... some ships..like Harmony... have the bathroom door opening towards the bed.. allowing parking near the door... but most have the bathroom door perpendicular to the entry door.. making parking a challenge. I will be there to open the door so that won't be a problem and we aren't gamblers so tight space there won't be a problem. Windjammer seems crowed even on Oasis class ships...so thanks for that warning.

Not to stray from the Adventure topic, but Celebrity doesn't force you to go through the casino to get from one end of the ship to another on the casino, there's a path along side it. On most RC ships you have to pass through to get to the entertainment complex, unless you go cross ship on level 5 and then go down.
