LLRS11 Posted October 25, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2023 Good afternoon, We will be boarding Eurodam October 28th. Does anyone know what artificial sweeteners they have on board? Stevia? Splenda? Or do we need to bring our own?

Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted October 25, 2023 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2023 I did not see Stevia on our September cruise but definitely Splenda. I did bring my own little baggie of Stevia.

Skipper's Mom Posted October 25, 2023 #5 Share Posted October 25, 2023 I've found Stevia in the Explorer's Lounge sometimes. I usually bring my own box/bag.

CruisingGrandmaW Posted October 30, 2023 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2023 Just got off the Eurodam off Oct 28th. Panama Canal cruise - Eurodam was re=positioning from Alaska to the Caribbean for the upcoming Caribbean Season. There were NO sugar packets whatsoever on the Lido Tables nor the MDR tables. The Lido had regular sugar dispensers on the table. However, I did not look to see if they offered them in the Lido near the empty coffee pots where the tea bags etc are located. The Eurodam was sparsely provisioned. Don't know if it was due to it being a Re-positioning cruise & it would be stocked differently once it reached Ft Lauderdale prior to beginning the Caribbean Season. Warning - our food was TERRIBLE - worst I've had on any HAL ship - we are almost 5 Star (51 sail days short) Eurodam had been provisioned with mostly pre-made food (think Banquet TV dinner quality) & then re-heated on ship. Most of the desserts were the cheap store bought type - not made on ship. We only had whole bananas, green & red apples, Oranges & then the same unthawed frozen Melon/Pineapple mix. The bananas were ripe to begin with and on day 3 - no longer offered. They did have a "Tropical fruit" day where they offered grapes, peaches, plums & tangerines. Quality was poor - fruit tasted on verge of rotting. There was mold spots on many of the grapes & on the peaches. The plums had "wilting stem area" I could go on & on about all the food - but that would be writing a novel.
CruisingGrandmaW Posted October 30, 2023 #9 Share Posted October 30, 2023 Oh gosh - just noticed you boarded on Oct 28th. Hope your food experience is better than ours. We cruised Eurodam before and food was fine. But we will NEVER book the Eurodam again.
LLRS11 Posted October 30, 2023 Author #10 Share Posted October 30, 2023 We are currently on board. There are no packets on tables, but sweet & low and Splenda packets are available in Explorations Cafe on the coffee bar. Splenda is available upon request in Pinnacle Grill, but not stevia. The food so far has not been very good, not at all like previous cruises (this is our first cruise since COVID), with two exceptions: French onion soup in MDR and filet in Pinnacle - both of those were outstanding. seagarsmoker Posted October 30, 2023 #11 Share Posted October 30, 2023 (edited) We are onboard now and my sister asked for and received whichever artificial sweetener is in yellow and pink packets for her iced tea in the lido for lunch and dinner. Odd, same cruise and best food since restart since covid. Edited October 30, 2023 by seagarsmoker
Rare Crew News Posted October 31, 2023 #12 Share Posted October 31, 2023 On 10/30/2023 at 10:26 AM, CruisingGrandmaW said: Oh gosh - just noticed you boarded on Oct 28th. Just for clarification, only the tools used to prepare the food remain onboard for future cruises of the Noordam. Food issues are merely a moment in time. Those preparing the food and their supervisors rotate every 5-8 months. The food is loaded at each cruise beginning and the culinary staff has only a brief time to inspect it before it is loaded on the ship. If the negative side of these elements occur simultaneously, food issues may happen. The current captain of the Nieuw Amsterdam is moving to the Eurodam in March, He will be enforcing extremely high standards while visiting every venue and talking to many passengers. VacationCharlene Posted October 31, 2023 #13 Share Posted October 31, 2023 These types of post crack me up.....IF YOU are so concerned with the "sweetners" available on board.....WHY would you not just bring some of YOUR favorites. It is not like they take up alot of space. The things some people worry about....shish.....
