gometros Posted October 26, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2023 We're leaving on the Disney Dream for Bermuda on Tuesday and will be on the island on November 2nd. We were planning on going to Horseshoe Bay, but the early forecast is for possible rain. What are good ideas for a backup plan that will take us indoors out of the rain? No way to predict the weather in Bermuda this far out. Don't use weather app. They use algorithims based on past years a weather. Bermuda is an island so that does not work. The rain could be a ten minute sprinkle. The Bermuda weather service is more reliable and they only do 2-3 day forecasts. That said it is good to have backup plan as Bermuda has had a more rainy year than usual. Also beach season will be over water temp is cooling and air temp will be in the 70's. Personally that is too cool for me for the beach but some consider that warm enough. If you are only there one day you could take the ferry to Hamilton or when you get off find a taxi tour of the island. There is an area near the dock where you can get taxi and minibus tours island tours. http://www.weather.bm Edited October 26, 2023 by Charles4515

As it stands, we're actually visiting the island twice, as we're doing a back to back. The second time, we are doing a tour that visits Fort Scar, Somerset Village, Heydon's Chapel and Hamilton. I just decided to change the tour to the first cruise and take our chances with the second cruise. But still would love suggestions if the weather does not cooperate. One place you could go in bad weather is the Caves. There is also the National Museum at the Dockyard. Your tour does not include the East End,. You could easily do a 3 or 4 hour tour of the East, St George's, St. David, Coopers Island, Tuckertown, etc.
KDKSAIL Posted November 8, 2023 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2023 It's always a good idea to have a '..plan B..'. For indoor activities there's CRYSTAL & FANTASY CAVES-- https://caves.bm/ BERMUDA AQUARIUM & ZOO-- https://bamz.org/ BERMUDA UNDERWATER EXPLORATION INSTITUTE-- https://buei.bm/ BERMUDA NATIONAL MUSEUM (at: Dockyard)-- https://nmb.bm/ OR....take the BLUE--Dockyard-Hamilton public ferry route to downtown Hamilton (approx. 20 mins. across the Great Sound, into and through Hamilton Harbour) and poke 'round the stores, shops and attractions of downtown Hamilton (carry light rain gear or an umbrella for ducking between shop doors)...enjoy a leisurely lunch in town...stop up and tour through the National Cathedral...through the Art gallery in City Hall...take a #7--Hamilton-Via South Shore Beaches-Dockyard public bus route back to Dockyard (with spectacular views of many of the magnificent south shore beaches, western ocean and Great Sound water views along the route--approx. 60 mins)
gometros Posted November 15, 2023 Author #6 Share Posted November 15, 2023 Well, it is good to plan, but we ended up having perfect weather both days. Thank you for all the input!
Rare mskaufman Posted November 20, 2023 #7 Share Posted November 20, 2023 Last time we went it rained in the morning, so we took the ferry to Hamilton. We did not find shopping that interesting, so we went back to the ship for lunch and then headed to Horseshoe Beach. Of course, as soon as we got there it started raining. In the end it was on and off drizzle, so we spent a couple of hours there and enjoyed it.
