Cruisin’ Ducks on HAL ships?

On our Alaska cruise in August my daughter came upon a duck with a cute note behind a book in the library on Westerdam, and she became obsessed with the duckies after that! She ended up finding 10 of them altogether on that cruise, and re-hid several for others to find with a note she composed.  I couldn't help but get dragged into the obsession and we could be seen peeking around all the decor and probably looking like idiots all over the ship... And did I mention my daughter is 32 years old?  Sigh.  My next cruise is next week on Rotterdam (sans adult kids), and I ordered some rubber duckies from Amazon - I will hide a few and yes, probably look for some too, so I can text my daughter the photos.  Such a silly thing, but harmless fun!

Thank you!  I'd never heard of them until recently, but I saw what joy it brought kids and adults alike when they found them on a recent cruise on another line, that I decided I'd try it on HAL regardless.  I now have all my ducks in a row, having found 2 different Facebook pages (one public, one private) that all HAL cruisers can use to post regarding them.  We'll be on a 28 day cruise and I plan to hide 20 a day - hoping it brings a smile to that those who find them, and that those it doesn't, they can just leave them where they find them so that perhaps someone else can enjoy them.

Thanks to all for weighing in!

Most recent cruise (ended on Friday) is the first I did not find a single duck.

Here are a few we found and/or hid on the cruise before. We wanted to have some of them easy for the wee passengers to find, so they weren't all really hidden.

We left this one in MDR.

This was one of my favorite hiding spots - we used it on multiple occasions.

One was left graveside in the Titanic area of Fairview Lawn Cemetery; I did not leave it - it was already there.20230927_173503.thumb.jpg.e3d5ce085d99c9ed560be09475bb256b.jpg
