I am booked to stay in NH Collection Porto Batalha before my Avalon Douro River Cruise.  Anyone ever stay here?  Thanks.

Maybe try cross posting on the River Cruises forum as river cruisers are more likely to have stayed over in Porto than ocean cruisers who mostly only spend one day there, and it is usually  a port of call, not an embarkation or disembarkation call.

As already suggested, try reading reviews on Tripadvisor and accommodation booking sites.
