Cape Town hotels

Hi, we are going on Azamara at the beginning of January,starting and ending in Cape Town.

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced hotel at a good location, preferably near the waterfront. Thank you.

Will you be on the January 3 cruise?  If so, many hotels are booked because of New Years.

Azamara is using The Commodore, The Westin Waterfront, and the AC Waterfront by Marriott.  We booked the AC independently.

We are on that cruise but arriving in Cape Town on the 30th December. We have now booked in to the Pullman which we are happier about than our previous booking !

PortsWood is very reasonable and in a great area.    We booked the nearby Queen Victoria Hotel.  Rates have varied greatly since our booking.

What is your impression of the hotel?  I will be there the end of January.  How did you get there from the airport?  I'm looking into their shuttle price.

We have stayed at the Queen Victoria Hotel twice now for four nights each time. The latest was Dec 2022.  We love the hotel and the staff. Can’t beat it for location. It’s very close to all the shops and restaurants at the V&A Waterfront.

We are also going to Cape town in 2 weeks. Is it safe to travel?

We ended up staying at The Table Bay Hotel.   We were very happy with the hotel and the location.   The Ports Wood is very close (walkable) to the V&A Waterfront.

 

We booked a room at the City Lodge Hotel for disembarkation day.   Our flight left at 11:00pm.   The hotel was inexpensive, clean, and provided respite during our busy day.   We dropped off our luggage around 9am and our room was available around noon.    We did not stay overnight.   The nice thing about this hotel is it is next to a boardwalk that connects the Canal district to the Waterfront.   It is a safe 10-15 minute walk along the canal or the main road.   

 

We used John Farthing @ Kestrel Executive Services.  He was recommended to us by another cruisecritic member.  His rates were very reasonable!

John was wonderful.  He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and an all-around great guy.   He gave us great recommendations and enhanced our trip tremendously. We did several private tours with John.  He also transported us to/from the airport.

We felt very safe in Cape Town.   Avoid certain neighborhoods that are known for their criminal element and you will be fine.
