Bush airport departure.

Looking at two flights departing Bush Airport (IAH) on 9 Feb following Prima cruise from Galveston. Cruise arrives on a Friday.

One flight leaves Bush at 12:12

One flight leaves Bush at 14:05.

Cost difference is minimal.

One arrives home at 1700, the other at 1900.

Do not want to leave through Hobby.

Private car pickup at port at 0900.

The earlier flight is intriguing but the later flight gives more time if something goes wrong, ie., late arrival at port or traffic issues.

It's been 10 years since cruised out of Galveston.

Your thoughts.

I would go with the later flight on a "just in case basis".

 

It's 70 miles from port to Bush and you never know how much of a delay you may have on our freeways.

What day of the week does the ship Dock?  If a Sunday, the 12:12 fight is most certainly doable.

The car service should use the toll road which makes the trip about an hour fifteen to 1-1/2.  I drive this frequently from the island.

Should you wish to feel more comfortable with time, take the 14:05

The early flight is a little chancy.  I have a sail on December 3 on Allure and initially had a United flight leaving at 12:30 PM and was advised by experienced folks on this board not to take a chance.  Bush Int'l ' is an estimated 1:45 -2 hours and also one needs to be at airport at a minimum of 2 hours prior to flight.

 

Ps.  This is my first sail out of Port Galveston.  Changed my flight to 1:30 PM.

Traffic to IAH from port can be problematic. It's quite a drive without traffic. Personally, I would choose the 1405 departure. I try not to fly until after 1300, anyway.
