I’m cruising to Cozumel in January and have no idea what to pack. A light jacket? Sweaters? Athleisure? I will not be going going to the beach, so will it be warm enough for shorts! Dates are Jan 8-12 so early winter.

How is the weather on a cruise to Cozumel in January?

January in Cozumel brings mild and comfortable weather, making it an ideal time to escape the winter chill in many parts of the world. The temperatures typically range between 70°F (21°C) and 82°F (28°C), creating a pleasant environment for outdoor activities. 

 

It would be good to bring a light jacket/hoodie or sweater, but weather should be pleasant.

@SPacificbound nailed it correctly!  We have been to Cozumel in January a number of times and it is indeed hot. Shorts and short sleeves for sure!  I don't think you will need anything but a light jacket or sweater, and that would only be on board at night while cruising.  I know you say you aren't going to the beach but if you did, the beach and swimming would be very pleasant.

 

Assuming the balance of your itinerary is Western Caribbean, which will have all of your ports of call in a similar weather pattern - if not hotter, in particular south of Cozumel.
