New Orleans- Erato Street Garage (Official Port Parking)

Sailing on the Carnival Valor on a busy holiday week next year. I'd prefer to park in the official port parking, but would also like to aim for a 1 or 1:30 pm boarding time to be able to go to our cabin immediately. Will the main parking garage be full by that time of day? I saw that St. Greg said there were over 1000 spots and one ship at a time, but unless I'm missing something, there would also already be cars from the other Carnival Ship that departs earlier in the week.

My SIL had a late checkin time last week and found the Erato parking was full.  There is an overflow lot but IIRC he had to use a shuttle to get back to  the port.
