None of the tours are giving much interest.... but we are hoping to at least have lunch while there. We arrive at 12pm next month. 

 

Are there a lot of readily available taxis?

No need taxi. Penang has free shuttle bus to downtown and other point of interest.

There´s no need for a taxi or other form of transport if you just want to have lunch in town. There are very good food courts within easy walking distance from the cruise pier.

We did a ship excursion which was great, but when we returned, we hired a rickshaw to take us on an hour ride. That was the highlight of the day!

Do you remember the approximate cost for the rickshaw ride? Many thanks for the tip.

I think we paid around $20-$25. We paid in Malaysian currency and I think it was 100 MYR for an hour. This was our driver and he was great! He took us to all kinds of street art and posed us for pics lol.
