Casino Comp Passenger Swap Other Party

Hi everyone!

Long time lurker, first time poster. I have a question about an upcoming cruise I have booked with my partner. I have a room comp from the casino, and he booked a room separately with a casino trade in voucher. I have his brother booked with me in my room, and he has his brother’s wife booked with him in his room.

I know we can have extra room keys made on board and swap who sleeps in what room, but we would both like to get the drink package and his brother and wife do not want to. My question is on board are we able to swap passengers between rooms and buy the drink package on board? Has anyone successfully done this?

The person who had the offer must stay (on paper) in their designated cabin, so you cannot designate both of the guests in one cabin. The only thing you can do is have the other person in the cabin get a basic soft drink package, but if one person in a cabin has a drink package, the other passenger in the same cabin must have some type of drink package. Sorry.

Did ya'll get the perk of free drinks in the bar with your Casino at Seas offer? Just asking because my husband did, and as the 2nd person, I had it as well. I don't drink at all and he rarely does at home. I did try some mocktails and this includes soda and cartons of water. We didn't do the FAS drink package and saved those gratuities we didn't have to pay.

The casino is only open at sea, so if you are big drinkers, you may still want the package, but if you won't be drinking much while the ship is in port, you should be good. You CAN get 2 drinks each and take them with you when you go to eat or go wherever you want. You don't have to stay in the casino to drink them. In ya'lls situation the 2 friends would get the free drinks at the bar as the 2nd person as well. So if they don't drink, you could have 4 drinks each at a time when you go to the theater, to eat or wherever you wanted to lounge.

Royal does not care which cabin any of the guests choose to sleep in so you can swap around any way you choose….but that will have no bearing on the purchasing requirements for the DBP.  If one person on a booking wants the DBP the other person on that booking will be required to purchase either the DBP or the refreshment package.

Regarding complimentary drinks in the casino, it is my understanding that only persons with a casino rating of Prime or above are entitled to complimentary beverages.  Some non-Prime customers may have gotten lucky and been given complimentary beverages but that is not the way it is supposed to work.  I would not go the casino and expect the non-Prime guests to get any complimentary beverages.

We were on NCL instead of Royal. It was our 1st casino comp and 1st cruise. On NCL my husband and his guest (me)both got free drinks this was a couple weeks ago Dec 17th - 24th.

That makes a huge difference.  Different cruiseline, different rules over comped drinks in the casino.

I didn't notice until you mentioned Royal that this was on a Royal thread. We are looking into our next cruise and considering Royal as well as NCL. Sorry about that...

My TA has always told me if one person gets a drink package the other has to have the equivalent package.  Other than a minor being in the room.  Is one allowed to have refreshment and the other alcohol?
