jini Posted March 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2006 Embarking from Venice May 14 on the Rotterdam. My question is: Which side, port or starboard, is best to experience the sail-a-way. Also, any ideas on what kind of temperatures (high, low) we will run into. Ports are: Venice, Dubrovnik, Corfu, Cairo, Kusadasi, Istanbul, Constanta, Odessa, Varna and Athens. Trying to guage what/not to pack. Thanks, Ed
Rare Keith1010 Posted March 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2006 I have been to Venice a couple of times. Quite frankly the best place for to experience the sailaway to just to go on deck and to view it from different sides of the ship. Once you are on board just walk outside about 15 minutes before it is time to leave port and just from looking out you will know exactly where to stand. I hope that you are arriving a day or more before your cruise so that you can explore Venice. It's a wonderful city. I've been to most ports on your list except for Constanta, Odessa and Varna. We really enjoyed Dubrovnik. We visited this area this past Fall and thought it was a wonderful city. I would recommend visiting the walled city which is fairly close to where the ships dock. Here's a web site that you can use to look up historical temperatures for each of these ports. http://www.wunderground.com May is a nice time of the year to visit these places. Not as hot as the middle of the summer. Keith
