If you’re talking about missing the glacier due to ice in the channel there is no way to predict that.  It is largely influenced by things like temperature and the amount of sunshine beating down on the glacier over the weeks before a visit which can increase glacial calving.   Missed calls at Dawes glacier occur all the time all season long. No month is safe.

Yet it is a common itinerary, especially for as large a ship as Quantum Of The Seas. There must be a record of how many missed calls compared to full sailing to the glacier.

We went in September, and we were a little concerned about not making it down to Endicott Arm because we missed Ketchikan due to bad weather. Shockingly it turned out to be a beautiful day and witnessed it! Prior to that we were told that the ship wasn't able to make it down to Endicott Arm multiple times before our sailing. I came to the conclusion that it is just pure luck! 🙂

Went on Ovation the past 2 years,  Once in August and once in September.  Didn't make it to Dawes either time. Once for ice and once for a medical emergency.  If you want to increase your odds, make sure I am not on the cruise!

We have also missed twice in two years.  First time was due to fog.  Legit, it was totally socked in.  Captain sat outside entrance for close to two hours before waving it off.  Second time was the one that irked me.  Was Sept 2023 on Ovation.  When boarding in Seattle they were passing out sheets saying we would miss Dawes because there wasn’t enough daylight this late in the season.  Don’t they know sunrise/sunset times when they make up the schedules?  Can they buy an almanac maybe?  Everyone was in disbelief.
