I was shocked to see this area too.  We were there in Oct. '23 and the pool was open, but they were still working on the area around the Splash Surfing (FlowRider).  We didn't stay in the port area though.  We taxi'd over to Mahahual for the day.

ok. A guy at the bar was saying that was new. But..he also said he hadn’t be there in two years. I’ve been twice…now three times in two years. Really I just haven’t gone down that far.

When we were in Costa Maya in April there were also 4 ships and it was packed!  We tried walking around but didn’t make it too far and stopped for a drink.  I asked for a beer for me and water for DH.  Friends order small margaritas.  They brought bottled waters for all of us and they got the biggest margaritas.  Waiter argued with us that that is what we ordered.  We walked out. 
 

Now seeing your pictures we need to walk farther to less crowded areas next time.
