Priority Guarantee assignments?

We’re booked in a balcony guarantee on a Med cruise this summer via a casino promotion. 
We’re Platinum. 
What’s your opinion of whether they assign Platinum or casino guarantees to preferable cabin locations or do you think it’s random and those things don’t matter?

I have never heard of Platinum or Diamond getting priority with guarantee cabins.

Even if they did, the typical Mediterranean cruise has so many Plats and Diamonds that it probably won't make much of a difference anyway.

If you want a preferable cabin then it would behoove you to book it. The deal with guarantee cabins as you probably know is you get what you get. I don't think they give "better" guarantee cabins to Platinum and Diamond - if they did, my guess is it would be listed as a VIFP benefit.

Agree. Diamond here and the only upgrade I've ever gotten on a guarantee is a porthole instead of interior on my second Carnival cruise. 

 

If people knew (or thought they knew) how Carnival determined who gets free upgrades, it would decrease the number of people who paid for upsells.

Ahhh but I didn’t ask about upgrades. 
I asked about cabin locations within the balcony guarantee category (ie deck, location, view obstruction)
