There is quite the difference. Many of HAL's demographic will stick out like a sore thumb in Jamaica. We will be in Jamaica Mar 3rd on the NS. I don't have an issue getting off the ship but I will be with 3 LEO's that are in their early 30's and I will look like a bum. Ratty T-shirt and shorts, no watch, my phone will remain in it's case under my ratty t-shirt and just to show the real loser I am I will wear my Blackhawks cap. There will be many more inviting targets.

Ha! I can relate.  No matter what, I always look poor, I guess.  The jewelry and handbags are real, but I think that people think they are fake.  I'm saved by my forlorn appearance lol.

On one particular hike, a guy appeared with a rifle pointed at me and my wife telling us to get lost.  While we were on public property, I did not fell like pushing the point in a remote rural area where our bodies may not be found.  We went back to the car and moved on to the next town.

Did the guy say 'Get off my lawn' in a husky voice while pointing his rifle at you?

New movie. Bob Marley: One Love. Could always watch that😊

We did on Valentine's Day, the day it premiered.

And Bob Marley was shot. Luckily he survived.

The questions begs why do cruise ships even stop in Jamaica with crime  so elevated  ?

They are literally running out of ports to use.  That is why you have seven or eight ships at Cozumel nearly everyday.

A few years ago, we had a cruise stop in Falmouth and we did a zip line excursion. We took a bus and he drove us into the jungle. The driver stop the bus and says "I got robbed right here a month ago". Everyone one the bus yelled GO.lol

I will be cruising on the Eurodam in March. We booked a shore excursion in Jamaica. My husband is concerned about our safety. I believe the current status is a level 3. Should we cancel our excursion?

Which port? Ocho Rios is a ghetto, I wouldn't get off the ship there.
