Shamwops1 Posted February 16 #1 Share Posted February 16 Wondering if anyone knows the procedure for disembarkation and then embarkation on back to back cruises leaving out of San Juan. Thanks for any info!
bbelle59 Posted February 16 #2 Share Posted February 16 I’m interested too. Except our embarkation port is Athens in case it matters.
neverendingcruising Posted February 16 #3 Share Posted February 16 San Juan is like Miami, escorted off the ship and through customs to then return to the ship. In most of Europe it's all done onboard, up to you if you want to leave or not as you don't have to go through customs.

Rare CineGraphic Posted February 16 #5 Share Posted February 16 There will be a letter in your cabin explaining everything.
Rare cantgetin Posted February 16 #6 Share Posted February 16 My experience is that each cruise is different, even when it has been the same cruise line, same port. The only totally consistent thing has been that there will be a letter in the cabin with instructions, The above posts are typical, but nothing is for sure till you get the letter. Rare CruisingWalter Posted February 17 #7 Share Posted February 17 As noted above, it will be like Miami because you are going through U.S. Customs just like Miami. Your letter in the cabin will tell you where to meet and you'll be escorted off the ship as a group and when the ship is ready, you'll be the first to board the ship. If you have the same cabin, you'll leave everything in your room.
bbelle59 Posted February 17 #8 Share Posted February 17 Thank you all for the info. First time B2Bers and couldn’t be more excited. My big outstanding question is laundry. Since we are traveling light, (thank you to the airlines for forcing this upon us!) what are the on-ship options for laundry? Does anyone know the cost? Our other option is to launder our clothes in port. Is reembarkation a hassle if we close to go this route?

Free if you have deep blue extras. There are also single item cost options including for pressing and specialist cleaning.
neverendingcruising Posted February 17 #10 Share Posted February 17 And no self serve laundry like other cruise lines, you will have to send it out.
Rare cantgetin Posted February 17 #11 Share Posted February 17 (edited) My experience has been that cruises either have self serve laundry or a large charge to do it laundry. On VV, you get a HUGE laundry bag compared to other lines, for a cost of $30 (accurate as of Nov 2023) with next day return. This is VERY reasonable. THey do a nice job and things come back folded better than I do it at home. One bag per cruise is included in the DBE perks. My suggestion would be to send it out just after you board for the second leg. If you try to do it across the transition, you increase the cost of a mix up, especially if you are changing rooms. Or, if you have DBE, send it so that it comes back before the turn around day....then send it again toward the end of the second leg so you will be taking home clean clothes!
