Dunmore East: worth staying in port?

Recommended Posts

thank you all who have responded to my prior inquiries regarding our stops on our Iceland/ Ireland cruise. I’m almost there with the planning but still have a few questions. Thank you for your patience!
Our ship will be tendering at Dunmore East. Most of the shore excursions are to Waterford crystal Kilkenny etc. I was just on a land road trip this past October and used Waterford as a base to see all the major attractions in driving distance. So, been there done that. Still the stop is an opportunity to see more of Ireland, so is there anything to see at the port city itself? Any lunch/ pub/ shopping/ walking recommendations? I did a search and did see a walking tour posted, but maybe there are other options? Thanks all

Nope!

Most important is that it is not a 'port city' but a port village/very small town.

The Strand Inn is a nice place for lunch.  It is right on the shore side.https://www.thestrandinn.com/

A walk along the pier and looking at the fishing vessels is about the most exciting thing.
