Maginot Line Excursions?

Good morning!  (Or afternoon if you aren't in the western US)

 

We are planning a Classic Rhine River cruise in summer 2025 and I see a Maginot Line excursion from Strasbourg on Avalon and Gate 1.  Does anyone know if any of the other cruise lines offer this excursion?  We are happy to pay extra.

 

I do like the Avalon option, but since it's summer and two of the people in our group, my dad and my teen son, would really love a plunge pool.  I was hoping Emerald or AmaWaterways offered a similar excursion.  Avalon only has a whirlpool.

With Viking the Maginot Line structures were pointed out as the bus headed out to an excursion (can't remember which), but as far as I know Viking does not offer excursions to the Maginot Line.

Where did you go?  I ask as the Maginot Line is really long.

 

I have an upcoming trip, and I'm thinking of visiting Ouvrage Hackenberg Maginot Line Fortress,  which is outside Metz. Interested in any other spots you may have seen.  Thanks.

If I am remembering correctly, the Maginot excursion with Avalon was to Ouvrage du Four-a-Chaux. I could have the name wrong, but the excursion was near Strasbourg.

We did this one as well, and really enjoyed it.  As you likely know, the Maginot Line was a series of fixed defenses.  The tour, as I recall (took it in 2015) was mainly a tour through one of the very large bunkers that made up those defenses.  The soldiers lived inside of it and had command of its guns, and we got to see where all that happened.
