craigtompkins Posted March 1 #1 Share Posted March 1 (edited) We are seasoned cruisers but have never made it to Costa Maya. Assuming our ship makes it later this month, we are looking for someplace to go outside the cruise pier similar to Paradise Beach (our favorite) or Mr Sanchos in Cozumel. Looking for someplace with both beach access and a pool. There are 4 adults and 2 teens and we are not big drinkers, but don't mind AI since we do like to eat 🙂 If I'm reading other forum posts correctly, it looks like Mahahual Beach is the right area, but I can't seem to find someplace with a decent pool too. If there isn't someplace with a decent pool is there part of Mahahual Beach that has clearer water than the other? Is the water at Jamie's Blue Reef about as good as it gets? Costa Maya is totally different to Cozumel and has no “developed” beach clubs like Paradise Beach, Sanchos etc or even resort hotels with full facilities. Biggest pool (and flow rider) will be at the port, or the waterpark which is not at the beach there are one or two locations which have small dip pools. There are a few places with kayaks and paddle boards, snorkeling excursions or fishing. Water clarity depends on season, currents and storms. The length of the malecon is protected by the off- shore baffles although there were reports last year of murky water in mid-summer due to disturbed silt or possibly sargsssum breaking down and leaching through/round the barrier. Rare crewsweeper Posted March 1 #3 Share Posted March 1 Jaime's and Nacional Beach Club both have pools. Jaime's is upstairs on top of the hotel. No sure if Nacional gives access to their pool with their day pass, might be reserved for staying guests. Neither of these places are walk-ins, reservations needed. Both have websites.
