Transportation to Australia Zoo from Cruise port

Recommended Posts

Our Princess cruise ends in March next year.  We all want to do an excursion to Australia Zoo, and Princess offers an excursion but it’s the last day of the cruise.  Would we have to bring luggage with us and leave it on the bus all day?  Would they take us all the way back to the ship terminal which seems odd since the ship will be gone.   Does anyone know who runs the Brisbane bus company for Princess?

If the Princess tour is a disembarkation one, you would have your luggage in the bins under the bus. These tours usually end at the airport.

Australia Zoo is a long way north of Brisbane so it wouldn't be easy to get to without a tour.

You need to ask Princess about luggage and drop off destinations as most Aussies on CC would visit the zoo by car. Aus Traveller is right about these tours ending at the airport.

Thanks.  Spoke with 2 Princess agents who didn’t have a clue.  Ending at the airport would be fine, but it would be great to confirm.

Possum52 has your answer on the other thread hat you asked the same question. Why am I not surprised that Princess didn't have a clue? 😪 I think there call centres are run out of Kindergartens, same as Royal does.

If it is the last day of the cruise, they will not be taking you back to the cruise port. Usually, it is to the airport or maybe to the city.  Isn't it clear from the description of the excursion?  I know the disembarkation tours of Brisbane city end at the airport.

I guess you could DIY if you hired a car, but Australia Zoo is about 90 kms north of Brisbane.

Thanks.  No it isn’t clear as the excursion description states the bus returns to the port at 4 pm and the Princess agent said I’d be notified after booking.

We have done one of these last day tours in Singapore and we didn't have to deal with our luggage until we got to the airport after having gone through customs in the morning and taking our cases out to the bus.

I remember we couldn't book this excursion unless our flight was after a certain time.

We have also done one in Alaska where we were dropped off at the Captain Cook hotel in the late afternoon where we were staying the night.

If you are concerned or have any questions visit the tour desk earlier in your cruise and they will be able to answer any question that you may have.

Princess does complicate things in Brisbane, and this looks to be the case with dual porting of Crown Princess next March.

While your cruise may end in Brisbane and others will embark, for a majority of the passengers Brisbane will only be a day in port. Those passengers will be out and about and doing tours, only to return to the ship and set sail for Sydney where they will disembark a few days later. This would apply in Brisbane on 17th March, which is also day 9 of a 12 night Syd - Syd cruise. If that is the case for you, lower numbers disembarking makes it harder for them to fill disembarkation tours to the airport.

Thank you.  So this makes it sound like they will take us back to the port if some passengers are continuing back to Sydney.  Only difference is, we will have to take our luggage with us.

If it is not the official end of the cruise for everyone (that is, it could be booked as one cruise not just a B2B) the passengers continuing on will have tours for Brisbane and surrounds to book for the day.

As you are leaving the cruise in Brisbane you would need to book a tour called Brisbane airport transfer with Australia Zoo, which by the sound if it is not offered.

Any tour taking you to the airport at the end of the day Princess would have airport transfer in its title.
