Rare dctravel Posted April 5 #1 Share Posted April 5 First time cruising to the Mexican Rivera. We are scheduled to be in Ensenada on Christmas Day. Strikes me as a potentially difficult day to visit, especially if thinking about a non-cruise line (Carnival for us) excursion. Does anyone have experience visiting Ensenada on Christmas Day and have thoughts on ship v. private tour? I'm leaning toward cruise line for ease based on the holiday, but would love to know what other people have experienced! Thanks, dctravel
Mike45LC Posted April 5 #2 Share Posted April 5 We were in Ensenada on Dec 25, 2022 off the Celebrity Solstice. We took a shuttle into town ($4 pp round trip). Ensenada was dead. We ended up taking a horse-drawn carriage ride, and we bought some junk (t-shirts, sweatshirts and baseball caps) for friends/relatives. We were back on the ship in under two hours.
ATSEAMYLIFE Posted April 5 #3 Share Posted April 5 I don't think you will find much open on Christmas day. I would probably just stay on the ship or book a ship excursion.
Rare dctravel Posted April 8 Author #4 Share Posted April 8 Thanks. That was my gut. We were in San Juan on Christmas Eve in 2001 and almost nothing was open (except the casino!). Figured it might be similar. Ship excursion it is, if we decide to get off the ship!
