Cancel cruise paid with gift cards

 Share

Recommended Posts

I am cancelling a cruise that I paid in full (I am within the cancellation window). I used Princess gift cards to pay. I have copies of the original gift cards (the electronic ones that I got through AARP). Does anyone know how long it will take before the refund amount shows back on the gift cards? TIA.

Not sure what you mean by "within the cancellation window"?

Does that mean you made final payment before 90 days or are cancelling with penalties?

If you cancelled for any reason, you may get back the credit as Future Cruise Credits minus insurance.

If you cancelled for a covered reason, your insurance should refund you.

If you cancelled before Final Payment due date, you should get refunded to the gift cards.

I had a refund due to a price drop.  The cards were refunded within a day.  They did not tell me which cards were refunded, but I had copies and was able to figure it out. I used the cards for another cruise.

Ours were given back on cards when we cancelled.

It was for an Australia cruise and knew they were not going to open back up during Covid (they were just starting vaccinations there while we already had a second dose here in the US).

Anyway, it was a day or two before the cards were loaded back up.

We used our TA to take care of everything and it didn’t take long at all.

Need to add we canceled before full payment was due. We just applied the gift cards early just to get it out of the way.

Cheers
