MamaStang Posted April 29 #1 Share Posted April 29 My husband has a casino offer that we may go ahead and use in a couple of months. Alaska on the Discovery Princess. All that is available in the mini suites, which is what he gets, is M324, M328 and R409. Considered R409 because it has an extended balcony, but then saw it is right under the Sea Walk. The Marina cabins are under the pool area. Has anyone stayed in a cabin under the pool area on an Alaska cruise? Wondering if it would be less noisy than say a Caribbean cruise would be. memoak Posted April 29 #2 Share Posted April 29 I would rather be under the sea walk than the pool personally
rjack22 Posted April 29 #3 Share Posted April 29 I agree. I would rather be under the sea walk too.
beg3yrs Posted April 29 #4 Share Posted April 29 We had a cabin under the seawalk once on the Royal. The overhang is awful as it limits your view of the sky and any high mountains near the ship. At that time there was also a terrible purple light shining up from below that illuminated the cabin at night. I'm sure it makes the ship look nice but ...
moviegal Posted April 30 #5 Share Posted April 30 I sailed in a cabin under the Seawalk once and had fun waving to people up there who could see down onto my balcony (I had to put a sticky note on the door to remind me to put on pants, ha ha). Not ideal, but neither is the noise and commotion that you'll hear under the pool deck. I'd just flip a coin.
caribsun Posted April 30 #6 Share Posted April 30 On our Princess cruise to Alaska hardly anyone used the pool.
MamaStang Posted April 30 Author #7 Share Posted April 30 So after much thought we are going to take advantage of the reduced casino upgrade price and move up to a suite and avoid the pool/sea walk dilemma. Thanks for all your input and happy cruising everybody.
