Rare D&N Posted May 9 #5 Share Posted May 9 (edited) UBER might be simplest. They usually offer a choice of X, Van or Luxe Edited May 9 by D&N
mthomp5 Posted June 16 #6 Share Posted June 16 If you don’t want to take the RER into Paris, it’s easy to catch a taxi from the airport. The official/regulated taxis charge a flat fee of EUR 60 to go to the Right Bank and EUR 65 to go to the Left Bank. Look for the taxi line after exiting departures. Don’t accept a taxi from someone who approaches you asking if you want a taxi because they are not the regulated taxis and will charge you a lot. Go find the official taxi line and pay the fixed rate. Confirm the rate before you get in the taxi and confirm that they accept credit card (if that’s how you want to pay).
Rare Hlitner Posted June 16 #7 Share Posted June 16 Paris has an excellent taxi company called "G7." That company has an English speaking phone line and also offers the ability to book taxis online (or via an app). When we are in a situation where we must have a taxi at a specific time (such as when heading out to CDG for an early flight) we simply book with G7. Not sure, but I think G7 can also arrange for a larger vehicle (which you might need for 4 persons with luggage). As to the RER, it is similar to a Metro/Subway system. We use to the RER to/from CDG as long as we do not have too much luggage. Dragging large pieces through subway/train stations is possible, but not our idea of fun. However, you should be able to call or e-mail them and get an approximate price. G7 is a huge taxi company (in many parts of Europe) and charge normal taxi prices. I would take an educated guess that from CDG to most Paris hotels would cost about 75 - 80 Euros. A way to save money, other than using the RER, is to book a shared shuttle (usually done in a large van or mini-bus). A few years ago we did try a shared shuttle (coming from CDG to the Left Bank) and did not like the experience. The problem was that we waited at CDG about a half hour (until some other passengers arrived) and, once in Paris, we wasted more time as our van dropped others at their hotels. These days we are willing to pay more for convenience. Hank

"metro" is a Subway, quite similar to other big subways you could know. New York, London, Madrid. It has 14 lines and it mainly operates in Paris centre with stops every 600-800m anywhere. In Paris each line has a number (1 to 14) "RER" is a suburban train. It operates from Paris to suburbs with quite less stations than a subway (longer distances, less stations). Some trains are double-deck. There are cities that have a similar service. In Madrid, for instance, "cercanías". In Paris each line has a letter (plus a number pointing destination). A to E. For a newby in Paris it doesn't matter what to use. A single ticket is valid to transfer from one to other line. Trains are different but service is quite good. I have used RER from Paris CGD to Paris centre. It is very easy. Nevertheless, if you find it hard to move with baggage, you can use until "Chatellet - Les Halles" or other station near city centre. You will save money and time. Later, take a taxi since there
