hooskydo Posted May 11 #1 Share Posted May 11 We are going on our first Alaskan cruise next week. We will be on Concierge level. Any must do activities or shows? It's 7 days, what night is the dress up dinner? Onboard will I need to wear my parka? I'm so excited. This is a bucket list trip. Any and all advice will be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Rare robbinsca Posted May 11 #2 Share Posted May 11 Be prepared for some cold weather. You probably won’t spend a lot of time in the pool. If you take the train in Skagway sit on the left side on the way up the mountain. It will sync up the commentary with a better view.
1Virgo Posted May 11 #3 Share Posted May 11 if you go to Sitka, the Bald Eagle/wild bird rescue centre is amazing. In Ketchikan, not far from the dock, is a restored area of the original homes from frontier days, including the Madame of the era whose home is a museum Some interesting shops there with art work etc Onboard, the shows change so check your app Clothes. Layering is the best way when off ship and having a fold up rain poncho, just in case. Take binoculars Have a wonder cruise
miched Posted May 11 #4 Share Posted May 11 (edited) Don’t buy any Ulu knives. Take gloves, hat and ear muffs for standing outside when looking at the glaciers and ice flows Dress in layers. It will be chilly in the morning and hot later in the day Take a rain jacket. Don’t constantly sit by a window watching for wild life. There really isn’t any to be seen when the ship is sailing. If there is there will be an announcement. Chances are you will be on the wrong side of the ship. If you want to see wild life take an excursion. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅 Edited May 11 by miched
jelayne Posted May 11 #5 Share Posted May 11 You will not need to wear a parka inside the ship.
