Regal Retreat Pool Cabanas

Recommended Posts

We will be on the Regal Princess in November doing 7 nights out of Galveston and have a couple of questions regarding the cabanas at the retreat pool.  We are pool people but need shade.  How much are the cabanas per day and can they be reserved in advance?  Also, do they provide enough shade?

It has been a while since I have been on Regal, and things can change on Princess quickly.

I believe that they are similar to the loungers in the Sanctuary...  (which might not always be full shaded)  And they were renting for $40.00 per day per lounger.   Discounted if you book for the entire cruise.

We have really enjoyed the Regal, especially because of its spacious and beautiful Sanctuary area.   We like to rent loungers that are behind the first rows, that back up to the nice tile mosaic wall.   because of that position, these are often shaded.

If you are a new Princess cruiser, then you might not know that all of these are first-come first-served on boarding day.  Back-to-Back cruisers who boarded the leg before you will be able to book in advance..  cruisers with level Platinum/Elite will have priority boarding...  As well as Suite guests who are in suites.

You will want to be at the port and board as early as you can.   Waiting up front for them to call boarding after Suites, Elite, and Platinum passengers.

Go immediately to the forward elevators and head for the Sanctuary as quickly as possible.

Loungers in the Sanctuary can all be booked really quickly...  But I think you have a good chance at getting one of the nice pool cabanas

We rented a Retreat Pool Cabana on the Regal for one day on our March cruise this year. It was $50 for half a day. It does not provide complete shade. My side was more in the sun than hubby's which was good as he is the one that has to avoid the sun. He thought it was better than nothing and he was okay with it, but slats on the roof allow some sun through. We did enjoy our afternoon there, especially tea (although it was very late as we got it after the Sanctuary was served).

They are curtained, so maybe not completely out of the sun.

The Regal also has "free" seating bear the pool on both sides that are pergola style and can provide shade depending on the sun's position

They had removed the curtains when we used them this year in March. There are some nice overstuffed chairs at both ends of the $50 cabanas with chaise lounges behind each side in two rows. Only the outside row has a little covering.
