Itinerary change, August 2025: Skagen, Denmark replaces Stavanger, Norway

Just got notice that HAL has changed the itinerary for our 2025 cruise (August 2-9), replacing Stavanger Norway with Skagen Denmark. Anyone ever stop in this port before? There's no info on HAL's website and no excursions listed yet. I was looking forward to seeing Stavanger, but Skagen is at least in an interesting location (at the far northern tip of Denmark). And it'll be nice to see a bit more of Denmark. If anyone has suggestions of things to see, I'd love to hear it!

We did both on our 2024 North Cape cruise.  Thoroughly enjoyed each.  I believe our port stop in Skagen last year on the Neiuw Statendam was the first HAL port stop there ever.  As I remember it was quite a walk into town, we walked one way and took the shuttle bus the other.  Charming town to walk in with multiple interesting museums to visit.  We visited the Skagen Art Museum and the Archers Hus.  Anchers was the home of artists Michael and Anna Ancher.  Skagen was quite the artist colony back in the day.  Almost all buildings are a matching mustard yellow.  Lovely pedestrian streets and multiple restaurants to visit.  An easy port to do on your own, although there were several tours offered by HAL.

Our cruise director called Skagen "land of the Corvette".  We were there on a market day in April and all the Corvette owners parked them on the sides of the main street.  It was really something to see.  We spent several hours just wandering the town.  Still have the toque and gloves I bought there.

We visited in 2019 on P and O Acadia and really enjoyed our warm, sunny day. If you like walking it is wonderful, as nice and flat with plenty of paths and opportunity to take a ride on a tractor pulled 'bus' across the sands to the spot where the North sea and Baltic meet! You can stand in the seas, with one foot either side! The difference in colour of the seas is interesting! Lots of little museums and very friendly people and little coffee shops. Nice shops. Lovely church, partially buried by sand! We loved this unspoilt spot, hope you do!

We also enjoyed our visit to Skagen, interesting place to to walk around town. We took the shuttle both ways. The local high school band played for our sail away.

Lovely photos! Thanks for sharing them!

Skagen is a lovely port with lovely residents, who turn out to greet the ships ….some-years ago they all clubbed together in a municipal investment to build a cruise pier …. Net result is that all the residents share the profits from cruise ships visiting … no local taxes for them!!!

it has grown from a nothing stop to (iirc) the second most visited port in Denmark after Copenhagen.

As another posted has said, it is worth the trek along the beach to get a photo with one foot in the North Sea and one foot in the Baltic Sea!!

Nice town to wander around regardless…with a well regarded Teddy Bear museum as well.

Oh wow it's like a co-op cruise port. That's a neat idea.
