Rare welshfamily Posted July 10 #1 Share Posted July 10 As it is no longer possible to book air without Blacklane transfers we are looking for ‘real life’ experience of this service and wondering where we would spend this credit. We always deviate. We live relatively close to our airport and are happy to drive ourselves. There is no longer any mention of transfers from the airport. We tend to have the Hotel we are staying in arrange our collection from the airport and transfer to the port. Having read the booking conditions on the Blacklane website it states quite clearly that the driver will wait for one hour at the airport. Taking into account the fact that many planes arrive late, customs/ security lines tend to be lengthy and baggage collection can be quite slow we are not sure this is a realistic time frame. Does Blacklane look at the time the plane actually lands and takes into account the ‘usual’ length of time taken for its customers to make it to the arrival area or do they state a time the driver will wait until and then leave. If we got out of our local airport, Manchester, in an hour after landing we would be very surprised. For clarity in our experience we have a text from the driver collecting us on landing and we keep them updated on our progress though the airport. Is this the way Blacklane operates? Experiences good and bad please
sd duderino Posted July 11 #2 Share Posted July 11 No worries; they are excellent, and their app is very good. My most recent experience - three different rides, two London airports, and a cruise port - all smooth with good communication. I could have, but didn't use them in some other locations, though, because there were other good options that are much less expensive.
CurlerRob Posted July 11 #3 Share Posted July 11 We have used Blacklane extensively in the UK, Scandinavia, Europe and Asia - every instance has been completely satisfactory (albeit expensive ...). You are able to state your pickup time, so if you are concerned about passage through the airport, just apply whatever buffer you feel appropriate. I usually request pickup about 45 minutes after scheduled landing - that means the 1-hour wait time starts then, not at scheduled landing time. If we're a bit early, it's no big deal to relax for a few minutes. Yes, Blacklane will monitor your flight. We have had one circumstance where the drive knew we were delayed and adjusted his schedule to fit without charge. If anything, the firm overcommunicates via the app and texts. We are usually deluged with texts that the driver has left; is arriving at the airport; expects to meet us at "x" point in the terminal, etc ... 🍺🥌
Rare Gpilon Posted July 11 #4 Share Posted July 11 We use Blacklane almost exclusively when traveling overseas and highly recommend them. We fly to Barcelona next Friday and board Grandeur the following Monday and have Blacklane booked to take us from airport to Majestic Hotel, hotel to pier, then Civitavecchia to Rome hotel then hotel to airport Aug.2. Terrific cars/vans and professional drivers.

Terrific cars/vans and professional drivers. We had almost exactly the same itinerary and experience. Just one exception/detour. Airport to Majestic (great hotel!) was difficult, only because area around the hotel was blocked off because of street fair. Driver spent 30 minutes trying to get us as close as possible. Fortunately this was the cruise that we decided to use only carry on luggage. And hotel front desk felt so badly for the inconvenience that we received a great upgrade! In spite of ‘detour’ Blacklane was terrific.

Eno-Bob Posted July 11 #9 Share Posted July 11 We had used Blacklane a couple of times without problem. The last time we booked with them in Jun 2022 we received this email after we landed in Copenhagen. "Dear Robert, Thank you for booking with Blacklane. Unfortunately, due to issues beyond our control, we are unable to fulfill your booking. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and assure you that you will not be charged for this ride. You may see a pre-authorization for the amount of the ride in your bank account, but the funds will be released to your account within the next few days. We do our best to avoid last-minute ride disruptions, and hope to earn your business for a future ride. We would like to offer you a 25EUR/25GBP/40NZD/250SEK/25USD voucher. We hope to see you riding with Blacklane soon. Best regards, Your Blacklane Crew" We have used other ride services since then, but it looks like we won't have that option in the future if we book through Regent... Rare ronrick1943 Posted July 13 #11 Share Posted July 13 We've been using Blacklane for sometime, both local and international and have always had a good experience with them. The problem may be that cruise lines are starting to use them, may put a strain on at the system.
