Live: Azamara Pursuit (Barcelona → Chioggia)

We spent the last day in Chioggia and did not regret not going into Venice - which we will do another time. (The distance to Venice is only a little over an hour by plane for us).

It was not as hot as the other days, there was a nice breeze and we found out that visiting the little town (they seem to call it little Venice for a reason) was convenient and rewarding.

To reach the little canals you just exit the port and turn left.

The houses are colorful, people are sitting in the streets in little cafés, chatting, laughing... the atmosphere is happy and relaxed.

This is the Hotel "Grande Italia".

Should we ever come back to Chioggia (to start a cruise maybe?), I want to book this hotel!

It is ideally situated, and seems so posh!

Just around the corner from the Hotel Grande Italia you can hop on a boat tour ("motonave Anna") where you can do a one hour panoramic tour of the canals for only 10 Euro.

Back on the ship the dreaded packing had to be done. Oh how I hate to do that.

Somehow every time I come home from a trip my suitcases seem to have shrunk and my clothes seem to have magically multiplied...

Combined with the souvenirs that I HAD TO buy, it was a really hard task to be done.

We enjoyed our last dinner and our last night on the balcony overlooking the beautiful Venetian sea:

The morning of debarkation we had preordered a taxi.

Stefano drove us to the airport circumventing traffic jams and road blocks that seemed to try and stop us from leaving beautiful Chioggia.

Summing up:

I loved loved loved our cruise.

And although the ship was fully booked, we never felt it.

We loved the food. Especially the dishes in prime C were simply superb imho.

I did not know what to expect as far as wine quality of the ultimate package wines was concerned but I was absolutely not disappointed.

The suite was lovely, the crew and the fellow passengers were great.

I am very happy that we are booked on another Azamara cruise for autumn next year - I really cannot wait.

Thanks to everybody who left a kind word or a reaction - happy cruising to all of you!

Thank you for your informative and helpful review and hopes for an uneventful return trip to your home. When you have a moment would you be able to share the contact info for your taxi driver from Chioggia and the amount of the fare to the airport?

sure:

His name is Stefano Boscolo, his email-adress is stefano.boscolo.67@alice.it

I paid 130 E for a private transport / 2 p in a van that fit at least 4 with baggage.

He was friendly, very responsive and perfectly on time.

The azamara transfer by bus would have cost 49 pP

@mj_holiday exactly!

you take the cruise price, divide by the number of nights and then multiply by the remaining nights. (in our case  * 3/7)

what makes this really attractive is that it is not restricted to balcony cabins but can also be used if you book a suite (plus we had the onboard discount of 6%)

We are sailing 6/1/2025 on Azamara Onward.  Does this incentive have to be booked as part of a cruise with Azamara sales or could my TA reach out for a price adjustment?

Really love this live blog and especially the pictures of the menus and food.  It’s been about 9 years since our last Azamara cruise.

Thanks!

Bob

@360Guy

thank you for your comment.

the cruise (with adjusted price) can also be booked via a travel agent, but there is a time frame (I think they told us one year after move up, but I am sure someone will correct me if that is wrong)

I am confused. If your last Azamara cruise was 9 years ago when did you change loyalty level?

We are Elite Plus on Celebrity and showing Discoverer Plus on our booking so it appears Azamara has credited us for our past cruise history with Celebrity. I know the programs are separated now but we became Elite Plus in the fall of 2023.  So I was curious if there was a “free nights” option for our 2025 cruise.  It sounds like that expired already.

You may be in luck. The best thing is for you to contact the loyalty ambassador at Azamara to check your status.

The rules were that you had to have taken at least 50% of your cruises, or it might have been points earned, with Azamara to qualify for free nights. I assume that this would still apply especially as they are now a separate company.

Thank you Cavaaller for you great pictures and commentary.  When the cruise port moved from Venice to Chioggia it seems all I heard on this and other boards were people not happy with issues getting to Chioggia.  Your pictures and info show that it is a nice place for a day or two to enjoy.

Thank you for the description and photos of your cruise! We are embarking on Quest from Chioggia in mid October and doing pretty much the reverse itinerary. As someone who has not yet cruised with Azamara, we gained much excitement with your capturing. We cannot wait to experience it!
