First tennis final I've seen where one player so obviously wanted to get finished quickly to watch a football match!

Maybe not the place to share this, but after being on for a while now I think my biggest pet peeve is that no one listens to the safety broadcasts anymore.

Everyone continues chatting away, the pub was filled with cheer for the tennis, completely drowning the safety speech.

I doubt and of course hope nothing will ever go wrong on this ship or others, but I fear if it does there will be a large number of people who have no idea what to do.

It’s 10 minutes at most, and requires just to listen. Surely it isn’t that difficult? I know I’m in a unique situation being on for so long, but even I give it a listen though I’ve heard it probably 7 times in the last month.

Even people just before, asking why the bar was closed. Then proceeding to ask what the safety drill was and what it was for. It’s been explained every 30 minutes for the last 3 hours!

I really think they ought to reinstate the old type of drill where everybody actually has to go from their cabin to their muster station when the signal sounds. That means all the passengers have actually done it, even if only once. That might just make all the difference.

Of course it happens on flights as well. Apart from watching and listening to the demo, I keep an eye on those that are paying no attention. These are the folk I'll avoid on my way to the exit if there is an evacuation.

Our last flights, on an aircraft type we've flown on many many times, the demo revealed a different life jacket from those I've seen before. Those that didn't watch might only inflate half the life jacket.

Embarkation seamless - dropped luggage 12.35 and onboard by 1.05! First impressions very favourable - Cunard but with a twist! We are in PG and cabin is lovely, colour scheme/layout etc but cupboard space is limited and would struggle if on a long cruise and if on a world cruise think I would have to store half my stuff in cases under the bed! The bathroom is bijou but 10/10 for the shower and cubicle but then again we are 5’2 and 5’6! PG restaurant is a very nice space, well laid out and more than happy with our able for 2. Grills terrace is well placed and spacious and looking forward to trying the hot tubs and access to the Cabana and Sky Bar - weather permitting!  Lots more to explore over the next few days but obs football is taking priority tonight!

I am over hearing talks of a “happy hour” - at least in the pub

There’ll be a very unhappy hour if England lose, I fear.

Not sure what’s worse. 1-0 to Spain or the lack of happy hour in Room 1840.

On a serious note lovely evening so far, I’ll be having dinner in the cabin this evening given I sacrificed the restaurant for a seat.

Weather sounds good for tomorrow, with gaming lessons and low limits in the casino, so that’s where I’ll be, at least for the afternoon!

I wonder how the non English guests felt about the wall to wall to England atmosphere on board.  Unlike the upcoming Olympics, the England football team is not Team GB attracting more widespread support.  Scotland and Wales has not had the same enthusiasm for the Euros since their teams were eliminated and I know there are German, and no doubt other, guests on QA.

No internet yesterday so late to the party!

Well, first impressions are, things have tightened up.

Embarkation was ok(I would say that as we were first of the non transfers, on) and no issues at all getting a lift throughout the afternoon. Luggage was a little late in arriving but all cases in the cabin by 4pm.

Lunch first and then I popped up to the  library. Excellent idea as I was one of the half dozen up there.
Good news  ex Londoner. Two books per passenger. The shelves were full and I got four holiday readers which should take me around four days.

It was lovely to be greeted with smiles and 'welcome back' from quite a few staff, some we didn’t really have much to do with. All good PR.

Watched the tennis then took a walk around the ship.

A leisurely  dinner, around 7.30pm and I swopped the  steak for a filet mignon, blue. The quality was superb bearing in mind a good vet could have revived the animal.

We then decided to go walk about. The ship could have given the Marie Celeste a run for its money. Deserted. Absolutely deserted
but
we heard music and followed it to the Queens Room. Spent an hour listening to some surprisingly good music. Mind you, Coldplay, Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac…our era!

OK, easy to grab a lift when there’s no one around but it was surprisingly easy to get one today. I’ll save congrats to QA until I’ve experienced a couple of days of lift waiting.

Food in QG, excellent. Service, excellent. Cabin, excellent. Staff, excellent.

A great night’s sleep.

A+ so far

Glad it is all going swimmingly. If only the Lounge were easy to fix. Very glad to hear that common sense has prevailed in the Library.

Your table and your neighbours table, for two, are now a round table for three. Fits in beautifully.

Whilst a disappointing result from the football I appeared to have better luck at the blackjack table, so that cheered me up!

We too noticed this, though that was around 10:30-11pm. My assumption was given it was embarkation day, many were already tired.

The pub seemed pretty lively, though definitely not full.

We were seated at table 6.  It was perfect.

Well, I certainly much enjoyed being somewhere in Italy when they were having some footballing successes a few years ago. So I expect they would go along with the vibe, though without the subsequent distress.

What a good idea. We will bring a friend with us next time. 😀

It was deserted when we finished dinner to when we went back to the cabin around 10.30. Embarkation usually has a buzzing evening, folk wanting to have a good look round.

What I didn’t say in my post is  apparently the number of those needing assistance is well down on our May cruise. The number in May was one of the greatest, we had seen and I can verify these were folk who weren’t trying to beat embarkation lines. They were obviously needing the help.

Have a lovely time everyone, we disembarked yesterday after a very pleasurable cruise in Queens Grill.  A beautiful room and the staff treated us so well and I must say I've never known such a friendly Maitre D, he was charming, as of course were all the other staff.  Back on Queen Victoria next which is a little more my cup of tea but I wouldn't rule out another trip on Queen Anne.  Enjoy!

I am very much enjoying the live reports and thank you to all who are contributing and Victoria2 for starting this new one. Wishing you all a fabulous cruise. If you get a moment Victoria2, I'm interested to know how the QG rooms compare to those on QV/QE?
