Hello! So many people travel to the Greek Isles in the summer. We are sailing October 26. First time to Greece and first time on Celebrity! Any suggestions for our packing list? Should we pack shorts or light pants? Also questioning if we should be packing our fall colors or can we still pack our "whites" since we will be in the Mediterranean? Looks like the weather is generally 65-75 degrees. Thanks for your input 😊

This is school half term break in the UK so for 30+ years we had a weeks break in the Med at about this time! Sometimes cruising sometimes land based.

Weather can range from ideal….Sunshine, light breeze and pleasant temperatures for sightseeing to grey, wet and miserable. The positive is that the weather tends to cycle over 3/4 days so at some point over a 7/10 night cruise you are unlikely not to have some good weather.

In the Greek Islands it is rarely cold when it rains so in my experience a light poncho is preferable to a waterproof. Umbrellas are a no no as rain is often accompanied by quite gusty winds. Pack your shorts and T shirts, simply pack a cardigan or two for the evening and you will be fine. To be honest the coldest we were on our last Med cruise was in the sky lounge where the air conditioner seemed to be super cool…

The date you give is approximately the last week of the Summer season. Some ports may start to close down…No port will be totally shut but some venues will be getting ready for winter shutdown.

The positive from our perspective is that places like Knossos (Crete) and Santorini are soooo much nicer with fewer guests!

Chemo has given you the same advice as I was about to. The weather can be quite changeable so having the option to wear layers is good as temperatures can vary quite a lot throughout the day.

The great thing about travelling in early and late season in the Med is that sites are far less crowded and moving around is much more comfortable in the cooler weather.

Your question about ‘whites’ and Autumn colours is very much an American concept. People in Europe wear whatever colours they like in any season.

I hope you have a great time as the Eastern Med has many wonderful sites.

We were in Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini last year from Oct 24-28.  I just went back and looked at our photos--we're wearing shorts or lightweight pants and sleeveless/short sleeve tops or casual dresses.  It was very warm during the day and warm/pleasant in the evenings.  It was awesome!!  Enjoy!
