The balcony isn't the issue, its the Retreat that I like to try and to see if its worth it for future cruises that I am booked on.

I will be very interested to see your comments on your Retreat experience.  For me, on EClass the Retreat is lovely, wish though it was more of a dedicated and self contained area.  On S/M class it’s a total afterthought and not worth it IMO.  That said the S/M class ships overall are a far better experience than E.
