brilliantseas Posted August 4 #1 Share Posted August 4 Has anyone taken a Shibumi Shade onboard a Carnival cruise for use at Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, or other beach destinations? They only weigh 4 pounds and collapse down into a shoulder bag that will easily fit inside my suitcase. Has anyone had any issues with security bringing it on or off the ship? old bag Posted August 4 #2 Share Posted August 4 Great question. I'm planning on taking my small Shibumi on Royal Caribbean. Other's experiences are welcomed!

mz-s Posted August 4 #4 Share Posted August 4 (edited) https://www.carnival.com/help?topicid=1202 You can bring it on the ship, whether or not they'll let you use it on HMC is another matter. I don't know the answer to that. Edited August 4 by mz-s
jsglow Posted August 4 #5 Share Posted August 4 I have seen similar sun-shade devices at HMC. I suspect they'll expect you to take it further down the beach so as to not impact other patrons.
Rare ninjacat123 Posted August 5 #6 Share Posted August 5 We were just discussing this on the NC beach. Shibumi is what we want to get for beach days on land and I hope we could use it on HMC👍

It wasn't up for five minutes and I was getting questions about it. It took maybe 3-4 minutes to put up and it was up for hours with no issue. Love the ease and simplicity. They are grossly over-priced but it is the only beach shade that I'd actually lug with me every time I go to the beach.

It's quick and easy to set up but you have to have a breeze for it to work. We bought ours about 4 years ago and I think we were the first ones in our area to have one. Now, on any given day I can look out our door and see them all up and down the beach. And it's so pretty! 😍
